  • Watch a professional baseball game at Tokyo Dome.
  • Visit Yoyogi Park.
  • Stroll through the Shinjuku National Garden on a beautiful day.
  • See a Kabuki theatre show.
  • Ghibli Museum - Though tickets can be hard to grab unless you plan it early, this museum is well worth the wait. Explore the work of the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli.

Shopping

  • Pokémon Center Tokyo - Grab your favorite pocket monsters at an official Pokémon Center store in Tokyo. There are even exclusive items only sold at Pokémon Centers in Japan.
  • Harajuku Fashion Spree - Looking for a bit of the eccentric? Head to Harajuku for a visit to shops ranging from trendy accessories to the totally subversive.
  • Ikebukuro - Along with Akihabara, the Ikebukuro area boasts large department stores and loads of electronics retailers.
  • Asakusa - Buy high quality and very inexpensive second hand kimono and obi (anyone who loves fabric would love to get their hands on these).

Day Trips

  • Tokyo Disney Resort - Visit the Tokyo location of this famous theme park family.
  • Kamakura - Famous for its bustling beaches, Kamakura also has beautiful temples and shrines.
  • Hitachi Seaside Park - If visited when they are in bloom, the blue nemophila flowers that blanket this park in mid-April to May are a gorgeous compliment to the cherry blossom season.
  • Mt. Nokogiri - This mountain is closer to the metro area than Mt. Fuji and a great spot for a day trip of hiking.
