Airport Pick Up
What To Expect
After arriving at the airport, you will go through immigration where they will ask you for your address. Please refer to your specific instructions below to find that. Then, you will pick up your baggage and go through customs. The airport arrival area might be confusing, but contact your on-site staff if you cannot find your meeting point.

IF YOUR LUGGAGE GETS LOST
If the airline has misplaced your luggage, you must first file a lost baggage report with the airline before exiting customs. Once you have done this, you should exit the customs area and inform Steve, your Site Director, that your luggage did not arrive. You must complete the lost baggage report before you leave the airport. Please give them Steve’s phone number so that they can coordinate with him to get it delivered to your housing.
As a reminder, please give the airline your Japan address NOT your United States address as we do not want the bag to be shipped back to the US. You can give Steve’s phone number as an in-country contact.
Early Arrivals
If you arrive before your program start date, you are responsible for yourself until the day the program begins. This includes your transportation, housing, meals and safety. Don't worry, many students choose this option and exploring the city for a day or two on your own can be a fun way to start your program and beat the jet lag before things start!
Late Arrivals
If you arrive after arrival day, let us know and we will work with you to get you to the accommodation.
In case of flight delays or cancellations, send a message to your site director with your updated arrival information. If you miss the airport pickup, you will be responsible for getting yourself to the city center (including the cost). If you miss the required Orientation Session, please check the chat group description for a link to the presentation (also found on the student guide).
There are several options for getting to the city from the airport, including the taxi and train, but the easiest is to just get a taxi with the app.
